The concept behind the SCBA is simple yet extremely effective. The “T” handle locks the cylinder into the holder and also locks the holder into the truck compartment. A quarter turn in either direction allows an individual cylinder to be removed or the complete two cylinder holder to be removed from the compartment for transporting to a staging area or a refill site. This eliminates the unsafe practice of handling cylinders by the valve handle or valve gauge, preventing the very real possibility of dropping a high pressure vessel in an unfriendly environment. With higher working pressures up to 4,500 psi and lighter composite cylinders, these air cylinders, if not handled properly, are a potential rocket.- Safe handling of bottles
