UL Classified to NFPA -
General Use
Developed specifically to meet the needs of rescue system belays, the 540° Rescue Belay is a self-locking device that meets demanding drop-test criteria - able to hold falling loads quickly while limiting the peak force. This well engineered device is easy to rig and the symmetrical design reduces the risk of improper loading. A built-in release lever releases the tension on the belay rope, eliminating the need for a release hitch. Designed for use with kernmantle rescue ropes from 11.5 to 13mm. 3 MBS: 8,093 lbf. Passes the BCCTR Rescue Belay Competence Drop Test Criteria. Ship. wt. 3 lbs.

On Belay! (Sep 29, 2008) |
| Reviewer: SAR Officer Colorado Rockies |
| I train and lead a mountain rescue team in the Rockies. I am responsible for the safety of the personnel on exercises and on missions. The 540 gets my full endorsement. I am very happy with the 540's consistent, error-free performance. In addition to mountain rescue, the firefighters I train and work with also use the 540. Although the tandem prussik belay is utilitarian, as long as the line is loaded in the 540 properly, the 540 takes human error out of the act of belaying a rescue load. With a 540, you no longer need a release hitch! Its tension release is a simple lever. |
