Five gallon pail cap wrench (Jul 21, 2008)

This wrench matches a remanufactured Hedwin 70mm cap wrench originally made by Rieke. Hedwin is a five gallon (tight head) pail manufacturer and Rieke is a pail and drum closure manufacturer. Hedwin takes the Rieke wrench and adds notches for the tabs/ears on the 70mm caps so that it fits the closures on their Hedwin pails. These knurled caps have raised or tabbed ears at sixty degree intervals for a total of six tabs per cap. Without a wrench to remove/replace these caps the cap may be damaged or cracked. If you are using a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks to remove/replace your caps, this wrench would make your life easier. Notches in the handy cap wrench line up with the tabs/ears on the caps to fit snugly and securely without damaging the cap. The competition, Hedwin, makes a similar wrench out of the Rieke wrench as mentioned which differs only by the number of notches it provides to accommodate the tabs on the caps. There are twelve versus six notches; other than that the two wrenches are the same. At half the price the handy cap wrench lives up to its name.
