Fiberglass fire helmets are more resistant to chemical attack and more stable at extreme temperatures than those made of thermoplastic. Fire helmet color is long lasting because color is molded into the shell.
Bullard PX - Thermoplastic Shell: Firefighters who need a more durable fire helmet choose the Firedome helmet with injection molded thermoplastic outer shell. The outer shell of this fire helmet is constructed with a high heat thermoplastic providing greater impact and penetration resistance than fiberglass; plus it's more reliable with repeated heat exposures.
