First Response is manufactured by the makers of the well-known Phos-Chek® brand fire suppression products. It is formulated to make water more effective for firefighting. The unique combination of surfactants significantly reduces water’s surface tension and, when mixed with air, creates a foam blanket that surrounds fuels with a thick layer of water. This creates a barrier between the fuel and the fire, knocking down the fire faster than water alone, and allowing firefighters to see the application areas. Making the water more effective reduces the amount of water needed to extinguish the fire reducing water damage and increasing firefighter safety through quicker knockdown and reduced mop-up/overhaul requirements. First Response contains NO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, is non-corrosive, non-toxic, readily biodegradable, and has no flash point. It does not contain fluorinated surfactants such as PFOS/PFOA, which are found only in Class B foams. Ship Wt. 45 lbs.

Qualifications and Uses

All ICL Fire Safety Class A foams, including First Response and Phos-Chek WD881 and WD881C Class A foam concentrates, have been tested and qualified for use by the USDA Forest Service. First Response is qualified for use in all delivery systems, including Canadair and other water-scooping aircraft and fixed-tank helicopters. First Response meets the requirements of NFPA 1150. It is effective for use in Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS).
