The strainer inlet is made of rugged anodized and powder-coated aluminum, and hangs 18" (45.7 cm) below the water line to avoid sucking surface air and bottom debris. Capable of supporting up to 30 ft (9 m) of hose, the strainer extends well beyond the safety ledges of residential ponds. The stainless steel clog-resistant filter has over twice the flow area as a 6" hose keeping friction loss down to 0.5 psi (0.03 bar) at 1500 gpm (5678 l/min) and reducing the potential for air vortexes to form. Oversized sealed ball pivot allows a hose range angle of 45° without constricting the flow. Jet Siphon increases suction lift capability and is also helpful for tank shuttle, pump priming, and dewatering without needing a trash pump. The Jet Siphon has a 1.5" (38 mm) female hose threaded coupling that pivots freely in any direction to avoid hose kinks. The rugged polyethylene float is yellow for increased visibility and nests compactly over the strainer to reduce the space needed for storage. Float removal is unnecessary for low-level use, although the tethered latching hinge pin allows the float to be quickly removed or installed if desired.
