A UAS Built to Serve DHS

The Parrot ANAFI USA MIL is not a drone you can buy on Amazon.com. In fact, the “MIL” ending makes it a drone that you just can’t buy. The ANAFI USA MIL is part of the Defense Innovation Unit’s (DIU) Blue small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) project that developed trusted vendors for the Department of Defense (DOD). While Parrot is a French company, the ANAFI USA MIL is manufactured in the U.S., one of the stipulations of the DOD. All the drones that are part of the program had to meet specific criteria: an operational range of 3+ kilometers; a flight time of 30+ minutes; an environmental rating of IP53 (able to fly through dust and rain); an assembly time of two minutes or less; weight of less than 3lbs.; a payload of high-resolution day and night-stabilized optics; and architecture built around an open-source protocol.

ANAFI USAAs drone use has risen swiftly among first responders, law enforcement, and the military, so have new uses for the technology. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently awarded a five-year, $90 million, blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to Darley and four other companies, which allows agencies that are part of DHS to place orders for UAS that are part of the Blue sUAS project. The ANAFI USA MIL is uniquely built to assist the agencies of the DHS. With 4K HDR video and a 21MP camera, it allows agencies such as the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the U.S. Secret Service to view areas from above at a distance they can’t see from the ground. And with a 32X zoom, they can zero in on specific objects.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) can also benefit from the strong camera on the ANAFI USA MIL. This UAS is the only one with a camera able to pan from -90° to 90° and with a wide-angle lens of 110°--capable of viewing a full tornado’s path or the breadth of a hurricane’s damage in one view.

What really sets the ANAFI USA MIL apart from its competitors though, is its security, something every government agency is looking for. Customer data never leaves the customer’s hands. And there are several levels of encryption of the storage media in case the drone or SD card is lost. DroneThere’s a secure, encrypted link between the controller and drone, and finally, Parrot uses signed firmware, which will signal if any tampering has been done to the system.

Darley is a Prime vendor on the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) contract. We are authorized to sell to all government entities in addition to DHS and you are able to purchase through us with incredible service and confidence.

You can see the ANAFI USA MIL for yourself in the Darley booth at SHOT Show, January 18-21, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV, Booth #32011. If you aren’t able to make it to SHOT Show, please visit www.darleydefense.com or email drones@darley.com to get a quote or schedule a demo.
